Sisterhood Solidarity Continues to Grow for the Empowerment of Girls

With our Summer Institute Program, first launched in 2023, we aim to introduce girls to safe learning opportunities, help them become learning companions to one another, solve challenges together, and develop lifelong skills that empower them.

The second edition of our Summer Institute, which includes girls from villages in Şanlıurfa and Istanbul’s Koç High School, welcomes 45 girls aged 14-18.

We completed the Şanlıurfa phase of the program from June 8 to 13, featuring cultural tours, exploratory trips, workshops and training sessions supporting the girls’ well-being, and inspiring talks and panels with successful women in their fields. The Istanbul phase of the program will take place from July 1 to 14.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Şanlıurfa Governorship and Koç Schools for their collaboration and to our community stakeholders who volunteered their time and expertise to conduct the training sessions and workshops.

We Have Launched Efforts for Neighborhoods Supporting Children

As part of the collaboration protocol we signed with the Şanlıurfa Governorship, we are working to establish Neighborhoods Supporting Children. By involving all actors surrounding children in the process, we aim to identify barriers to children’s social, emotional, and physical development, ensure access to educational opportunities that meet their developmental needs, and help them complete this process with maximum benefits. In May, UN Deputy Secretary-General and UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous visited Turkey to engage with representatives from the public sector, private sector, women-led civil society organizations, and United Nations officials.
