OUR GLOSSARY Collective Impact Approach

Why Do We Embrace the Collective Impact Approach?

Throughout our year-long preparation process, we gained many ideas and inspiration from discussions with girls, civil society organizations, academics, and teachers. During this time, we witnessed the existence of many valuable programs designed to address education, health, nutrition, shelter, and the protection of children from all forms of neglect and abuse—programs built through years of dedication and expertise in the field.

This awareness and the insights gained from our consultation meetings revealed that the most meaningful contribution we could make to the field would be to play a supportive role in amplifying the impact of this collective knowledge and effort.

What Is Collective Impact?

Collective impact is a journey created to foster systemic transformation by emphasizing the values of justice and equity. It involves learning together, aligning efforts, and integrating actions to achieve shared goals.

The framework of the collective impact approach is built upon five key conditions.

  1. Common Purpose: Establishing shared goals.
  2. Shared Measurement: Monitoring progress collectively.
  3. Mutually Reinforcing Activities: Engaging in complementary efforts.
  4. Continuous Communication: Ensuring open and ongoing dialogue.
  5. Backbone Support Organization: Providing a foundation for collaboration.
