Suna Kıraç is my mother, my teacher, and my source of inspiration. Her most important advice to me was to follow my dreams. She taught me to dream, to pursue those dreams, and that dreams can come true when shared.
My mother viewed education as one of Turkey's greatest challenges. She worked tirelessly and dreamed endlessly to establish quality educational institutions and ensure no child was left out of education. These dreams became her legacy to me. To this legacy, I have added my own dreams.
My dream is to develop educational opportunities that grant all girls and women the freedom to choose—a freedom my mother wished for me to have. And I believe this is only possible by addressing root causes and pursuing unconventional solutions, just as she did.
Suna’s Daughters is a journey of ideals passed down from generation to generation, transcending a lifetime. It is a growing circle built on the experiences, dreams, and intellect of countless individuals; a solidarity movement for girls; and a participatory philanthropy effort where priorities are determined by those who know the issues best, and resources are directed by them.
In this journey, which is entirely new for all of us, I extend my gratitude to the valuable experts from civil society, universities, and public institutions who help us see the way forward and shape our path, and to all our circle participants and stakeholders who have, in such a short time, enabled us to take solid and unified steps towards common goals.
I hope that the future of Suna’s Daughters will be shaped by girls who can confidently make the best decisions about their lives. Just as I hope that, in the new century of our Republic, women who expand their dreams from generation to generation and are supported in realizing these dreams will bring prosperity and peace for everyone. With the wish to continue our journey by growing together with those who share our dreams and hopes,
